A special filing period will be held July 12-14, 2021, as no candidate filings were received during the regular filing period for the following offices:

RCW 29A.24.181 requires a special three-day filing period for those offices where no one filed for the office during the regular filing period.

Candidates who file during the special filing period will appear on the general election ballot. No primary election will be held.

Filing for officeOnline candidate filing opens at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 12, and closes at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. To file your declaration of candidacy go to PierceCountyElections.org and choose the “File for Office” link.

In-person filing is available during business hours (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) on July 12-14 at the Pierce County Election Center, located at 2501 South 35th Street, Suite C in Tacoma.

Voters’ pamphlet information submittalAfter you file for office during this special filing period, you will have an opportunity to submit your statement and photo for the General Election Official Local Voters’ Pamphlet. If this information is not submitted online by 4:30 p.m. by July 23, 2021, your statement and photo will not appear in the voters’ pamphlet.

Special note for water-sewer districts with fewer than 100 residents If you are a registered voter of the state of Washington and you own land in the district, you may file as a candidate for and serve as a district commissioner. Please contact the Elections Division for further instructions on how to file.
