Puget Sound Heat Wave: Here's How Hot It Will Get In University Place

The Puget Sound area is in for a very hot weekend, prompting a warning about staying cool.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - Get ready for a hot, dry weekend across Puget Sound. Sunday is forecast to be the hottest day of 2017 with temperatures at or above 90 degrees in many Western Washington cities. It's going to be so hot that even the usually-chilly Pacific Coast will see temperatures creep up into the mid-80s.

The National Weather Service in a special weather statement said that the hottest places will be in the south sound (Olympia could get up to 95) and east of the sound toward the Cascades.

How hot will it get near you this weekend? Here's what the National Weather Service is predicting on Saturday and Sunday:

Want to stay cool(er) on Saturday and Sunday? Temperatures drop the farther north you go - Bellingham, for example, is only forecast to get to 83 on Sunday. And if you plan to go for a swim this weekend to cool down, make sure you follow safety guidelines - rivers are running fast and cold due to heavy snowfall over the winter.
