Tacoma Residential Fire Burns Four Homes, More Threatened

TACOMA, WA — Firefighters are responding to a fire that has burned at least four homes in Tacoma and is threatening several others.

The Tacoma Fire Department first reported the blaze just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, in the midst of an already-hectic day in Pierce County where wildfires have run amok in Bonney Lake, Sumner, and Lakewood.

However, the house fire is the only major fire reported inside Tacoma city limits thus far Tuesday.

Firefighters say its burning in the 7400 block of South Pine Street. At least four structures are involved and crews are on scene trying to make sure no other buildings catch flame.

First responders have had to block 74th street in both directions near the epicenter, and are asking commuters to avoid the area for the foreseeable future.

It's currently unknown how the fire started and if any of the involved buildings had to be evacuated, but so far no injuries have been reported.
