Tacoma Weather Forecast: Slightly Warmer With Sporadic Showers
"Juneuary" has lived up to its reputation in recent days, and a few showers remain in the forecast. However, things should get a bit warmer.
TACOMA, WA —Fresh off one of the coolest June days recorded in Seattle, Puget Sound is poised for a gradual warm-up heading toward next weekend. However, a few clouds are sticking around and more rain showers are in the forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday's high of 55 degrees made for the lowest afternoon temperature seen in June in nearly a decade and landed just 4 degrees above the all-time record. The especially noticeable "Juneuary" conditions were in stark contrast with the beginning of the month, with highs dropping more than 30 degrees in just a few days.
Seattle June 2nd vs. June 6th. With a high of 55° this is the 1st time in 77 years of records at Sea-Tac where the 1st week of June had a day with a high 85°+ and a day with a high less than 60°. 55° was only 4° off the coldest June day on record, 51° (6/2/1966 & 6/11/1952).#wawx pic.twitter.com/wzlDFsrhZZ

While Monday saw some sun breaks and a lot less rain, afternoon temperatures stayed in the high 50s for most. The rest of the workweek looks to have a few opportunities for some sun, with varying chances for showers continuing for the foreseeable future. A return of the summer-like days that kicked off the month is unlikely for the near future, but afternoon weekday temperatures should improve to the mid-60s and potentially reach the low 70s by Saturday, according to the latest forecasts.
