FEDERAL WAY, WA — One teenager has died and three other people were put in the hospital after a late night shooting at a Federal Way park Monday.
According to the Federal Way Police Department, several witnesses called 911 late Monday after hearing several gunshots and shouting at Steel Lake Park. When officers arrived, they found two people still at the park, both injured with gunshot wounds. One, a 17-year-old boy, died on the scene. The other, a 22-year-old man had to be rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
While that was happening, a 12-year-old boy was dropped at nearby St. Francis Hospital. Police quickly determined that he was also one of the victims of the shooting. They say he is not as seriously injured as the others and is expected to recover.

Based on interviews with survivors and witnesses, police were able to roughly piece together what happened. According to officers, the deceased 17-year-old boy and the 22-year-old man had been fighting, when a 28-year-old woman, who knew both them men, began to open fire, hitting both the fighters and the 30-year-old man. who was also part of the group, but had not been involved in the fight. The 12-year-old who was hit was not involved at all, and had been leaving the park with his family when he was struck by a stray bullet. Detectives have arrested the 28-year-old woman, but are also looking into the possibility that one of the other men involved also fired a gun at some point.
