University Place Christmas 2017: What's Open And Closed

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - What's open and closed in University Place for Christmas 2017? As you might guess, government offices are totally closed Monday, there won't be any mail delivery, and transit schedules will be reduced. Some places, like movie theaters and select retail stores, will open.

Here's what's open and closed for Christmas 2017:

Government

All state, local, and federal offices are closed, including the U.S. Postal Service. Local libraries are also closed. Police and fire services will operate 24/7 as usual.

Banks

All local bank branches - BECU, U.S. Bank, Chase, etc. - will be closed on Christmas Day. ATMs will, of course, still be working. Some bank branches will be open on Christmas Eve including Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Chase.

Shopping

Most grocery stores and pretty much all retail stores will be closed Christmas. Stores like Fred Meyer, Target, and Walmart are closed. Some stores that are typically open on Christmas: Albertson's, 7-Eleven, Family Dollar, CVS, and Starbucks - but it's best to check with your local location. Local Safeway and QFC stores are closed Christmas Day, and might be closing early on Christmas Eve. Malls like Westfield Southcenter and Alderwood are closed except movie theaters.

Movie Theaters

Many local movie theaters are open. Those include: Regal Thornton Place (Northgate), Cinemark Lincoln Square (Bellevue), AMC Pacific Place (Seattle), Regal Meridian 16, SIFF Uptown, Cinerama, Regal Bella Botega (Redmond), Regal the Landing (Renton), Regal South Hill, Edmonds Theater, AMC Alderwood Mall and more. Transit

• King County Metro: operating on a Sunday schedule
• Seattle Streetcar: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., service every 15 minutes
• Pierce Transit: operating on a Sunday schedule, no bus phone service
• Sound Transit: Some express bus routes will not operate, others will operate on a weekend schedule; no Sounder service; Link light rail operates on a Sunday schedule
• Community Transit: operating on a Sunday schedule
