At its June 1 meeting, the City Council directed staff to work with Council and members of the City’s Economic Development Advisory Commission to establish criteria for a grant program. Based on that effort, City Manager Steve Sugg and staff will present a resolution to the City Council on July 6 to share information on the program specifics and to formally adopt the funding. Pending Council approval, staff will initiate the grant process with a goal to distribute the funds by July 29.

To ensure that every business has an opportunity to participate, the Economic Development Department is sending postcards to 1,600 U.P. business addresses with these details and reminders to visit the City’s website for updates. After the July 6 City Council meeting, there will be a dedicated Business Relief Program link on the website that will direct business owners to the actual grant application.
