Oh for the win! Woodinville Montessori School teams competed at the US Interscholastic Orienteering National Championships on April 20 – 22 at Ft. Ebey, Whidbey Island and Lord Hill Park, Monroe to successfully come from behind and capture first place for intermediate schools on a two-day combined time.
The Elementary team won first place in their category as well. The new WMS feather banner was a rallying point for WMS athletes and families, one of the largest groups there. Over 350 competitors from the US and Canada raced in NW woods into the finish arena. WMS was quite a presence on the spectator hillside both days.
For Intermediate individual medals, Andy Seckinger took 1st, Erik Nygaard 3rd with Tyler Chu in 4th. Â Notable runs were made by Andy Seckinger on Day 2 and Thomas Wheeler on Day 1. Â Kyle Roecks finished 10th moving up on Day 2, with Brian Ellis doing well the first day.
