Bothell Woman Dies In Wrong-Way I-405 Crash

The incident happened late Thursday night near the SR 522 interchange, according to Washington State Patrol.

SEATTLE, WA — A 67-year-old Bothell woman was killed in a wrong-way crash Thursday night along I-405 near Woodinville, according to Washington State Patrol.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. near Northeast 195th Street, just north of the SR 522 interchange. Kathleen A. Kalda, of Bothell, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes, and then veered across all lanes of traffic.

Kalda's Saturn Ion crashed into a concrete barrier, and was then hit by Gregory A. Ganflinger, 26, of Tacoma, who was driving northbound. He was treated for injuries at the scene, but Kalda died later at Harborview Medical Center.

The incident blocked all lanes of I-405 for more than two hours. Police did not immediately say why Kalda was driving in the wrong direction.
