Venus de la Cruz, a student and fan of Bikram Hot Yoga, is hosting a community event for first timers of Bikram Hot Yoga. The event is for anyone, young and old, fit and not so fit, scared and curious, to get a chance to try it in a setting where people are all beginners. The goal of the event is to bring the benefits of Bikram Hot Yoga, health, joy, and peace, to people. The event will be held on Saturday, June 2Â at from Noon to 2 p.m.
Bikram Hot Yoga is a practice that many people are scared of trying because it’s in a hot, humid room. What people don’t realize is that it can be practiced at any age, any fitness level; you don’t have to be a super model or jock to practice. Bikram Hot Yoga has been known to create positive life changes in mind, body, and spirit. Practice regularly and you may never have to see the doctor again. 90 minutes of enduring sweat, heat, and humidity can benefit your life in so many ways.
Ask anyone who practices Bikram Hot Yoga and they will tout its wonderful benefits: men with back problems, ridding arthritis, helping MS, improved energy, growing taller not shorter… those are just a few. A community doing Bikram Hot Yoga is a happy, healthy, friendly, more peaceful community.

The event will be taught by Sandra Smith, owner of Hot Yoga of Woodinville and certified by Bikram Choudury in 2003. The 90 minute class consists of 26 postures done in a hot room (105, with controlled humidity). Begins with breathing and ends with breathing. Standing series of warm-ups, balancing postures, and stretching postures. Floor series of spine strengthening postures, stretching and compression postures. Concludes with final breathing leaves you completely relaxed, worked from the inside out, bones to skin, fingertips to the toes. Normally one learns the posture by listening to instructions, doing each posture twice. During the event you will have people demonstrating and participants can watch then do the postures. Plus it will be in a setting where everyone is beginning, where other regular sessions have a mix of people at various levels.
