High-Tech, High-End: RainSong Guitars in Woodinville Weathers Recession

The Puget Sound Business Journal takes a look at the local company that handcrafts premium guitars made out of carbon fiber composites, employing 10 luthiers.

RainSong Guitars, a Woodinville company that makes premium, traditional instruments -- using the same carbon fiber composites used in modern jetliners -- is the subject of an interesting recent story in the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The company run by Ashvin Coomar handcrafts guitars noted for their sustained notes, high-end harmonics and durability -- they start at around $2,000 each. It's the largest of several graphite guitars makers in the U.S., and moved from Hawaii to Woodinville in 2001.
