Inglemoor High School Senior Named Community MVP

Julianna "Juju" Barker has been volunteering at Northwest Harvest since a young age, as well as at The Gymnastics Connection.

Congratulations to Inglemoor senior Julianna “Juju” Barker who was named the Community MVP by Sounders FC Academy partners. The award identifies young athletes that have given back to their communities through community service.

“Supporting the community has always been important to me and I started volunteering at a young age,” said Barker. “To me, volunteering serves as a way to keep in touch with the community and gives me perspective on my life.”

Barker has been volunteering at Northwest Harvest since a young age, as well as at The Gymnastics Connection. Recently she started helping out at St. John's preschool.

“Since I am older, volunteering at the preschool is really the first time that I can see the impact of my involvement, where I can now understand the impact an extra set of helping hands can be, especially with taking care of little kids,” she said. “I think that volunteering has always been something that my family has done and this has driven me to pursue it on my own.

Barker is a member of the G02 ECNL team at PacNW. She has committed to play soccer for Oregon State next year.
