Toxic Algae Bloom Reported In Woodinville
King County health officials are warning people and pets to stay away from the water at Cottage Lake.

WOODINVILLE, WA — King County health officials are warning people and pets to stay away from the water at Cottage Lake due to a toxic algae bloom.
A recent water sample from the lake came back with high levels of the microcystin, which is a toxin produced by cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae. The toxin can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and headache if ingested.
Cottage Lake often sees "intense algal blooms" in spring and fall, according to King County. The park at the lake is managed by the county, not the city of Woodinville.
