Video Shows Moment Trooper's Car Hit By Drunk Driver On I-405

The crash happened Saturday night near Woodinville during a traffic stop, according to Washington State Patrol.

WOODINVILLE, WA — Washington State Patrol on Monday released dash cam video showing the moment a suspected drunk driver hit a trooper's patrol car along I-405 over the weekend.

The crash happened late Saturday when two troopers were performing a traffic stop along I-405 near the Northeast 160th Street exit. A drunk driver in a small sedan careened into the scene, hitting a car occupied by a trooper.

The officer inside the patrol car had only minor injuries, Trooper Rick Johnson reported. The trooper who was outside during the traffic stop was not hurt.

"This dash cam video from a DUI suspect’s car shows how quickly things can turn tragic," WSP wrote in a Facebook post Monday about the incident. "Thankfully, neither the driver nor the two troopers were injured."
