Woodinville Approves Civic Center Development Plan

A historic piece of Woodinville could soon be redeveloped into a civic and shopping attraction.

WOODINVILLE, WA - The Woodinville City Council on Wednesday approved an agreement to redevelop the civic center property, setting in motion a potentially big change in the shape of the downtown area.

The agreement with Woodinville Civic Campus Partners LLC would turn a block of low-rise office buildings - and the historic Woodinville Schoolhouse - into a campus of retail, apartments, and public space.

The current civic campus parcel contains a number of buildings at the corner of Northeast 175th Street and 133rd Avenue Northeast. A large chunk of the parcel contains one-story office buildings, which would be razed in favor of mixed use buildings, including an expansion of the YMCA.

The development agreement deems that developers will add about 275 multifamily apartments, and about 20,000 square-feet of office and retail space - but will provide adequate parking and street improvements. The developers have seven years to develop the property before the city and buy it back. You can read the entire development agreement here.
