UPDATE: Woodinville Police Need Donations For Charity Event

More kids are signed up for this year's shop-with-a-cop, and the department is asking for help from the community.

WOODINVILLE, WA - The police and fire department's annual "shop-with-a-cop" event is happening this Saturday, but the departments need extra donations due to an increase in the number of participants this year.

The police department announced on Facebook Thursday that they can now accept donations online. You can contribute here through a website set up by the Woodinville Fire Department. Then, follow up with an email to greg@firefightersforgood.org to direct the contribution to the Woodinville shop-with-a-cop event.

There are 85 kids participating in this year's shopping event, 14 more than last year. They also have two families on a waiting list hoping to participate. During the event, kids pair up with police and firefighters to shop for Christmas gifts for their families. The kids range in age from kindergarten to 6th grade, and each get a budget of between $50 and $100.
