John Ridley Establishes $100K Grant Program For Wisconsin Artists
The Oscar winner and Milwaukee native hopes to fund artists from the state's underserved populations.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Oscar winner John Ridley announced on Monday a new grant program to support Wisconsin artists, according to a report from The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The program pledges to give up to $100,000 in grants each year to artists and will be administered through the Milwaukee native's creative arts hub, Nō Studios. Special consideration for the grants will be given to the state's underserved populations including artists who identify as a person of color, veteran, female or a member of the LGBTQ community, the Journal Sentinel reported.
"Artists help us reflect on our common human experiences, be they hopeful, confusing, inspiring or painful," Ridley said in a statement. "At this time in particular, we need individuals who can help us make sense of the times we live in and help us understand life and each other a little bit better."
