Meet Wisconsin's 11 Olympic Athletes

The Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony begins Friday, Feb. 9. Wisconsin's athletes will be competing in hockey, speed skating, and more!

The 2018 U.S. Olympic Team is comprised of 242 athletes (135 men, 107 women) and of this group of athletes the U.S. is sending to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, 11 are from the Badger State.

The Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Feb. 9. The Closing Ceremony takes place at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Waukesha's Mitch Whitmore won the men's 500-meter race at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Long Track Speedskating. He is competing in the 500 meter and 1,000 meter events in the 2018 winter olympic games.

Gold medalist Dan Jansen has been working with Whitmore over the past three years to prepare the Waukesha native for one more shot at olympic glory, after competing in 2010 and 2014.

Delafield's Alex Rigsby suits up with the U.S. Women's Ice Hockey team, which has its sights on a gold medal for the first time in 20 years. Rigsby is the team's leading netminder, and has played with the team during the last three world championships. She's the Wisconsin Badgers all-time leader in victories with 100, and is also the college team's all-time leader in minutes played, saves and has the highest save percentage in school history. She was the first female athlete to be drafted by the USHL, when she was drafted by the Chicago Steel.
