Sen. Baldwin Asks Pence To Remove Trump Under 25th Amendment
The Democratic senator from Wisconsin joined a chorus of lawmakers asking the vice president to oust Trump or have him face impeachment.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) joined the growing number of legislators calling on Vice President Mike Pence to remove President Donald Trump from office under the 25th Amendment, calling the president “unfit to serve.”
"President Trump incited a violent insurrection against Congress as we were working to faithfully carry out our constitutional duties to accept the vote of the American people," Baldwin said in a statement Monday. "This attack on our democracy makes it clear he has broken his oath to support and defend the Constitution and that he is unfit to serve."
"I join the bipartisan calls for Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment so that the American people can have confidence that there will be a peaceful transition of power in the few remaining days of this disgraceful and dangerous presidency," Baldwin added. "If the vice president fails to act, then Congress should take action to address President Trump’s impeachable offenses.”

Baldwin is one of 38 Democratic and independent senators urging Trump’s ouster following the violent insurrection at the Capitol on Wednesday. No Republican senators have called for Trump’s removal. Baldwin also joined Democratic Reps. Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore of Wisconsin supporting a 25th Amendment action.
The House on Monday failed to pass a resolution calling on Pence to remove Trump from office, but the full House is set to hold a roll call vote on that resolution on Tuesday when it is expected to pass, The Associated Press reported. If Pence does not respond after 24 hours, the House will move to impeach Trump, with a vote as early as Wednesday.
