These 16 Wisconsin Hospitals Are Among The Best In U.S.: Newsweek

The rankings for 2021 include over 300 hospitals in the United States.

WISCONSIN— Several Wisconsin hospitals were ranked among the best in America by Newsweek.

The magazine’s “World’s Best Hospitals” list for 2021 ranked the top hospitals around the world, including in the United States. It’s the third year Newsweek has published the list, for which it partnered with the data firm Statista.

Five Wisconsin hospitals ranked among the top 200 in the U.S., while another eleven hospitals were included in the overall list but did not rank among the top 200.

Here’s how Wisconsin hospitals were ranked on the list:

  1. University of Wisconsin Hospitals, Madison: No. 28
  2. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee: No. 62
  3. Mayo Clinic - Health System In Eau Claire, Eau Claire: No. 69
  4. UnityPoint Health - Meriter, Madison: No. 89
  5. Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee: No. 90
  6. Aurora Baycare Medical Center, Green Bay: No. 221
  7. Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay: No. 227
  8. Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls: No. 229
  9. Southwest Health Center, Platteville: No. 230
  10. SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison, Madison: No. 231
  11. Mayo Clinic Healthcare System - Franciscan Medical Center, La Crosse: No. 243
  12. Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse: No. 270
  13. Health One - The Medical Center of Aurora, Grafton: No. 272
  14. Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, Sheboygan: No. 283
  15. ProHealth - Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Waukesha: No. 328
  16. HSHS - St. Josephs Hospital, Chippewa Falls: No. 332

In its methodology, Newsweek explained that it looked at three data sources to compile the rankings: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys and medical KPIs on hospitals.

Hospitals in the U.S. were also recognized for infection prevention if they performed above the national average based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
