"This marks an important milestone in our fight against COVID-19 and recognizes the progress we have made as a community and country through mitigation and vaccination,” said Mayor Jake Woodford.

Over the course of the pandemic, the Appleton Health Department has been regularly monitoring new data and reviewing the science to inform the City’s guidance and decision making.

“Based on the latest science, the findings all add to a growing body of evidence that all three vaccines available are effective at preventing severe illness and death from Covid-19, and that they help prevent people from spreading the virus to others,” said Appleton Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht. “If you have not yet been vaccinated, we encourage you to do so to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19.”

Vaccines have become widely available through local healthcare systems, pharmacies and public health clinics such as the Fox Cities COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic (FCCVC), where, as of May 13, more than 31,000 doses have been administered. Now through May 27, the FCCVC will only administer the Johnson&Johnson vaccine along with scheduled second doses of Pfizer and Moderna.

As of this week, those 12 years and older are approved to receive the Pfizer vaccine. To find a vaccination site, visit www.vaccines.gov, text your ZIP code to 438829 (GETVAX) or call 1-800-232-0233.
