Local Pet Business Makes Large Donation to Help 130+ Rescued Dogs

Pet Supplies Plus Delivers over 1,600 lbs. of Supplies to Shelter in Need

Devastated by the condition of over 130 dogs rescued during an August puppy mill raid, Wisconsin-based Pet Supplies Plus stores, including the Appleton-area locations, packed a U-Haul carrying over 1,600 lbs. of dog food, 20 cases of treats, 100 assorted dog toys and other pet supplies – and drove over two hours to deliver the donation to the Delta County Animal Shelter where the pups are recovering.

The shelter’s resources were strained from the task of helping the more than 130 dogs recovered in the raid, most of which were in horrific shape and severely malnourished. After hearing the news, a Pet Supplies Plus’ franchise group called US Retail Group reached out to gather donations:

  • 1600+ pounds of dog food from Purina
  • 20 cases of Bil-Jac treats
  • 100 assorted toys from KONG
  • Additional donated items through donation drives collected by US Retail group.

Representatives of the shelter expressed, “We cannot thank you (US Retail Group) enough for this wonderful delivery of donations. We are blown away by the generosity. This will surely help us help them. We are already putting some of the items, like the donated food and toys to good use. The gentlemen that brought the items were so sweet and kind.”

Chuck Stutes, VP of Communications for the franchise group said, “It was devastating to learn the conditions these dogs were in after the raid, and we know the amount of effort it takes to bring the dogs back to ample health. It was the least we could do to help make this possible for Delta County Animal Shelter and the neglected animals. We look forward to watching them find happy and healthy homes, and are humbled to be a part of their recovery.”
