Deputies Seize $4,500 in Heroin During Traffic Stop

Racine County Sheriff's deputies early Saturday morning seized $4,500 worth of heroin during a traffic stop on I-94.

Deputies pulled over a car traveling northbound on I-94 Saturday for a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, deputies say they could smell burnt marijuana so they initiated a search.

Not only did they find a small amount of marijuana and some prescription pills, they also discovered 30 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $4,500, according to a press release from RCSD.

The driver was not cited and was allowed to leave, but the passenger - also the owner of the car - was taken into custody and transported to the Racine County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver, heroin; possession of THC; and possession of a controlled substance.

The passenger's name is not being released because the investigation into this matter is ongoing.
