Flight for Life Airlifts Vehicle Occupant After Messy 3-Car Caledonia Crash

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a local head-on collision Tuesday night. At least two people were seriously injured.

Caledonia first responders were called Tuesday to the scene of a three-vehicle crash that required a partial highway shutdown and a Flight for Life helicopter transport.

The collision occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 7200 block of Douglas Avenue, according to the Caledonia Fire Department. Three vehicles were involved in what officials say was a head-on crash. Two cars were reportedly in the roadway and one was in an adjacent ditch when fire and police personnel arrived on scene.

"More crews were called to assist in the landing zone for Flight for Life," said a department news release. "One occupant was found to be trapped and extricated. The patient was transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and (another) was transported via ground rescue squad to St. Catherine's in Kenosha."

Firefighters shut down Highway 32 at Seven Mile Road to mitigate the crash site. Additional information about how the accident occurred was not available Wednesday evening.

The accident remains under investigation.
