Former Resident Tries to Fake Drug Test

A man who moved from Caledonia to Milwaukee tried to fake his court-ordered drug test.

A former Caledonia resident is accused of trying to fake his court-ordered drug test.

Police say Peter Puente, 25, on Jan. 11 tried to use someone else's urine to pass a drug test after his status hearing on drug charges.

Court records indicate that Puete was charged last September with single felony counts of possession of THC, possession with intent to deliver, and maintaining a drug trafficking place. As a condition of his $10,000 cash bond, he was not to possess or use any illegal substances and had to submit to drug testing after his court dates.

A summons was issued Friday for Puente to appear before a judge. He was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Friday with a single felony count of bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint, Puente attended court on Jan. 11 for a status hearing for his September case. After the court date, the defendant reported to Zimmerman Consulting, Inc. for the drug test. After a ZCI staffer directed Puente to give a urine sample, the staffer instead saw a white tube with urine coming out of it.

ZCI rejected the sample and asked Puente for another one, but he walked out of the office instead.

If he's convicted on the original charges, Puente faces up to 22 years in prison and/or up to $70,000 in fines. The new charge carries a prison sentence of up to six years and/or up to $10,000 in fines.

For the September case, Puente will be in court on April 8. The bail jumping charge has a return date of April 11.
