O&H Debuts New Croiss'OH'nut Friday

If you love the rich deliciousness of an O&H pastry in the morning, get ready for something the bakery promises goes even richer and more delicious.

Introducing the ... croiss"OH"nut; pronounced "cress-oh-nut." It will be available starting Friday, and it is a cross between the flaky goodness of a croissant and the gooey goodness of a donut.

Sara Willing, media coordinator for O&H, told Patch Thursday that the cronut has been popular on the East Coast for quite some time so the bakers at O&H decided to put their own spin on it.

"What they do out east is they take a croissant and shape it like a donut, then fry it like a donut and glaze it," she explained. "And they sell out every day, from the media reports I've read. So, we decided it was time to put our own spin on it here in Racine."

What they did was combine the flaky buttery-ness of a croissant but shape it just like a donut. Then, they decided to debut two versions; one is glazed and the other one has a buttercream center and is sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Owner Eric Olsen, in a press release, said he's proud of the creativity of his team in creating the croiss"OH"nut.

“Our croissant donut’s had a great following for many years," he said. "With the redesign of our croiss'OH'nuts, we have taken it to another level by offering our customers a truly unique and delicious product only available at O&H Danish Bakery.”

Willing said the experienced bakers at O&H knew what to do with the dough, and with the addition of the bakery's own buttercream, it's a decadent treat that's worth every bite.

"This is melt-in-your-mouth," Willing promised.

The croiss"OH"nut will be available starting Friday in limited quantities at all four Racine-area O&H bakeries:
