Racine Police Nab Suspect in Yet Another North Side Burglary Case
A 39-year-old Racine man has been arrested and charged with burglary after police nabbed a suspect in yet another burglary attempt on Racine

RACINE -- A 39-year-old Racine man has been arrested and charged with burglary after police nabbed a suspect in yet another burglary attempt on Racine's north side.
On Dec. 14, a Racine Police Department officers responded to a home on the 800 block of Isabelle Ave. for a burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a neighbor who stated he obsreved a white van pull into the driveway at the address of the reported buglary, and observed two black males on foot, and a black female operating the van, the criminal complaint stated.

According to police, the eyewitness observed the two men entering the home, and carrying out two televisions and placing them into the van. The neighbor overheard one of the men yell, "we gotta go!" and told police he saw the female drive the van through the snow bank to exit the driveway as one of the men was hanging onto the back of the van. The other man was still inside the house, he told police.
According to the criminal complaint, officers located two sets of fresh footprints in the snow leading from the back door of the home, through the back yard behind the garage of a neighboring house, fresh damage to a nearby fence, and fresh footprints that resumed on the other side of the fence.

Officers followed the footprints onto Kingston Ave. where one observed a person matching the description of one of the burglary suspects walking at a brisk pace southbound on LaSalle form Florence, the complaint stated.
Officers made contact with the male, identified as Metrick Campbell, who indicated he was coming from a house a couple doors down the street. The officer on scene knew this was false because the officer had observed him walking for nearly a mile, the complaint said.
According to police, officers on-scene reported that the footprints they were following led to Campbell, and his shoe treads matched the imprints in the snow. Officers noted that the front door of the home on Isabelle had fresh damage, appeared it had been forced open, and pieces of the interior door frame were strewn across the entry way.
Campbell has been charged with obstructing an officer as a repeater, criminal damage to property as a party to a crime and burglary of a dwelling or building as a repeater. He is currently being held in the Racine County Jail.
