Caledonia police say a resident in the 4700 block of Erie called Thursday to report their neighbor for having too many rummage sales.
According to village ordinance 7-16-1(D)(3), residents are limited to nine rummage sales per year. Police records indicate the caller’s neighbor was having his ninth sale at the time of the complaint. Previous sales are noted starting in March with a single date; three in April; three in May and two in June.
When officers responded to the complaint, the man protested, saying a single bike being left out for sale hardly constitutes a rummage sale. He also questioned whether or not three bicycles and a toy table for sale could be considered a rummage sale.

The resident insisted he was only on his fifth rummage sale, but a CAPD Sergeant told him if he has another rummage sale a citation would be issued.
