Adult supervision is important for water safety

It doesn’t take long- only a quick glance away from your child can be enough time for your child to be underwater. Supervising adults should maintain eye contact and stay within arm’s reach of children. About one in five people who die from drowning are children 14 and younger. For every child who dies from drowning, another 5 receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries.

Be aware of your surroundings

Mother nature is a powerful force and should not be taken lightly. Large waves can carry several thousands of pounds of water in each wave and can not only knock you over, but a strong undertow can even drag you out to sea. Rip currents kill more people on average than bush fires, cyclones, floods, and shark attacks, according to a new study.

Know your limitations

So often in dealing with the water we underestimate the physical fitness needed. Don't take on challenges that are overly risky. Does it look dangerous? Then maybe skip it. Better safe than sorry.

Like to go water skiing or tubing?

One of the most fun things to do is drag some hapless folks behind your boat at high speed. It can provide hours of fun and entertainment. However it can also cause injuries and drownings. Follow all laws and safety rules to make sure everyone comes back safe.

Pool safety

Everyone's probably seen or done it at least once at the pool: the "hey watch this!" trick. But About 10 people die every day from drowning in the U.S.. Use common sense and never let a young child alone. An estimated 5,000 children ages 14 and under are hospitalized due to near due to near-drownings each year.

Boating Safety

Boating takes skill. Not everyone should operate a vehicle that in all essence HAS NO BRAKES!! The list of things to stay safe could fill a classroom. But here are 3 simple things to avoid.

ALCOHOL!!!

BOAT%2B2%2Bgiphy.gif

Nothing good about alcohol and boating. 1 word - DON'T!

SPEED

It can kill.

Inexperience

If you don't know what your doing ~ then just don't do it!

Bottom Line

While the water is a great place to relax and have fun it must be respected for it's dangers.
