Bayside Named Among Safest Communities in Milwaukee Metro Area
Ranked 18th in Wisconsin, Bayside commended for quality of life, low crime

BAYSIDE - Bayside has earned bragging rights as one of the safest municipalities in Wisconsin according to a national ranking.
Every year Safewise.com puts out its list of safest places to live. Their ranking system is based on crime numbers reported to the FBI by local municipalities.
The Town of Oconomowoc has earned the top spot in Wisconsin for the second year in a row.
The Village of Bayside is probably best known for its Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, the 185-acre habitat on Lake Michigan, with 6 miles of hiking trails & a 60-ft. observation tower. Ellsworth Park, a 7.1 acre attraction, is also a local gem.
Today Bayside comprises approximately 2.39 square miles. About 81% of the total acreage is zoned for residential use, 15% is natural conservancy, and 4% comprises commercial, recreational, and transportation use. There is no industrial property in Bayside. In 2005 there were 4,329 people living in approximately 1,611 homes.
To identify the 20 safest cities in Wisconsin, Safewise started by reviewing the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics from 2014, along with population data.
According to Safewise, Bayside saw 0.23 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 8.14 property crimes per 1,000 period over their reporting period.
