Cedarburg High School Teacher Released On Accusations Of Inappropriate Relationship With Student, Who Was 18
Paul D. Smith, 26, was arrested Tuesday after school officials learned of the relationship between him and a female student.

OZAUKEE COUNTY - A 26-year-old Cedarburg High School teacher was arrested Tuesday on allegations of inappropriate behavior with a student and released Thursday afternoon after it was determined the female student was 18 at the time of the alleged relationship.
According to WISN, Ozaukee County District Attorney Adam Gerol said charges were dropped against Paul D. Smith, 26, and prosecution can't stand because the former student was of legal age at the time.
Cedarburg School District acted quickly, learning of the relationship Monday, and sending a letter home to parents the following day after the arrest. The district says the relationship happened during the 2015-2016 school year and the woman in question had graduated. The statement said Smith was placed on an indefinite leave of absence Tuesday.
