Woman Reads Patch Article, Finds Couple's Stolen Car

Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 27, someone stole their black, four-door 2012 Ford Focus with a hatchback from their driveway

BROWN DEER, WI — A couple in Brown Deer is asked the public for help in looking for their car, which was stolen out of the driveway of their home last week.

This morning, on Wednesday, Aug. 8, the owner of that car, Christine Skattebo of Brown Deer, told us that her car had been located and that the police were on the case. Skattebo told Patch that a woman read a Patch article documenting how the car was stolen, then later saw the car, and then called police.

On July 27, just after 5 a.m., police responded to a home on the 8100 block of N. Grandview Drive for a motor vehicle theft.

When police spoke with the home owners, they said that sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 27, someone stole their black, four-door 2012 Ford Focus with a hatchback from their driveway.

According to police reports, the couple who reported the stolen car said they were in the process of purchasing the vehicle from one of their parents.

They told police that the vehicle had been left unlocked, with the keys inside. Police reported that the vehicle was stolen with two license plates: 522-ZPE. A birth certificate and a set of keys for another vehicle were reported inside.

In the event anyone sees the vehicle, they are encouraged to contact local authorities. If in Brown Deer, people are encouraged to call the Brown Deer police department at (414) 371-2900.
