Guilty Plea Likely in Local ID Theft Case

A woman is charged with victimizing the man she was divorced from 10 years prior.

A guilty plea is expected Tuesday in an identity theft case involving a Bayside woman and her ex-husband, according to online court records.

Jillian Algrin is charged with a felony count of misappropriating identification to obtain money for an incident that came to light last summer.

Algrin’s former husband — they divorced in 2002 — received a call from Citibank last July about suspicious activity on his credit card, according to a criminal complaint. He replied that he didn’t have a Citibank credit card, and an investigation revealed that Algrin used his name and Social Security number to open an account.

Security video at the Bayside US Bank — where Algrin had twice made withdrawals from an ATM on the account — allowed the victim to identify his former wife.
