"Helen Keller: A Life Nearly Lost," a one-woman play with Jessica Machna, at 1:30 p.m., May 18

Local actress Jessica Machna will portray Helen Keller at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, in the Glendale Senior Citizens' Clubroom on the lower level of Glen Hills Middle School, 2600 W. Mill Road. Keller was two years old when she was plunged into a dark and silent world. A determined young teacher, Anne Sullivan, unlocked Keller's prison, making it possible for her to become a world renowned speaker and advocate for the disabled.
