ICYMI: $100K For Nicolet/FPBS Sports Programs is Man’s Goal

A local businessman says Gov. Scott Walker's budget could help school boards destroy sports and arts programs.

Are sports and arts programs at risk in the Nicolet School District and its feeders?

David Braeger thinks so. The local businessman and school supporter writes on Fox Point-Bayside Patch that while he hates wasteful spending, he thinks too many school boards and administrators — including those here — are looking for easy cuts in those programs, rather than taking a hard look elsewhere. He writes:

It is potential district suicide if we continue to cut athletics and specials and it is a process that becomes never ending because the School Board can so simply rationalize that "they have to do it" instead of really "trimming fat."

Braeger also claims a serious tangible goal for supporting these programs. Read his blog to find out that goal, and comment on whether or not you agree with his stance.
