Man Reaching For Sandwich Caused I-43 Crash: Report

The crash shut down I-43 for several hours Wednesday afternoon near Milwaukee County's North Shore communities.

GLENDALE, WI -- A serious crash on I-43 between two semi trucks Wednesday afternoon was caused in part by one driver reaching for a sandwich, officials said.

According to a CBS 58 report, the crash happened at just before noon on Wednesday on I-43 near Brown Deer Road. Officials said the driver who caused the crash reached down for a sandwich. "The next thing he knew, he rear-ended another semi," the driver told police as reported by CBS 58. One driver reported minor injuries.

After about three hours, all lanes of I-43 were reopened.
