Man Who Carjacked Mother of 4 at Bayshore Arrested and Charged
A man who carjacked a mother of 4 at Bayshore Mall has been arrested after GPS tracking, a police dog and a DNA test assisted in his capture

GLENDALE, WI — A man who robbed a mother of four at gunpoint to steal her car at Bayshore Mall has been arrested and charged after GPS tracking, a police dog and a DNA test aided in the man's capture.
Jose Luis Marquez-Marrero has been charged with armed robbery, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and fleeing an officer. He faces more than 30 years behind bars if he is convicted of the maximum sentences against him. He is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
According to his criminal complaint, Glendale police dispatched to Bayshore Mall on Feb. 10 for a report of a carjacking of a mother and her four children. The mother stated that while putting her seven year old, five year old, three year old and 6 month old children in her black 2016 Chevy Suburban, a man came up to her, pointed a gun at her and said, “Hey baby let me tell you something.”

As the mother struggled to gather her purse and children, the man became upset and yelled, “Keys! Keys! Keys!”, while pointing the handgun at her. After she handed over the keys to the vehicle, the man drove off, striking her and making her and some of her children fall down on the ground, the complaint stated.
Surveillance video from the mall shows Marquez-Marrero driving and arriving in a 1999 Honda Civic, but leaving in the mother's 2016 Suburban, abandoning the Civic, police reported.

According to his criminal complaint, OnStar was able to help Glendale police track the mother's Chevy Suburban vehicle a short while later in the 2800 block of N Richards Street in the City of Milwaukee. Police observed a man in a black hoodie and tan pants exit the suburban, looking right at the officer, get back into the suburban and take off at a high rate of speed in the vehicle.
The chase continued until Marquez-Marrero got to around E. Burleigh and N. Richards in the City of Milwaukee, at which time he ran from the vehicle.
Glendale Police deployed K9 Boomer, who acquired a scent from the vehicle of the suspect. Boomer followed the suspects flight path. eventually leading to a black hooded sweatshirt. DNA from the sweatshirt was found to be that of a person later identified as Marquez-Marrero. By June 23, Marquez-Marrero had been located and taken into custody.
