Theft Suspect Gave Cops Fake Name: Police
A Milwaukee man has been charged with obstructing after he gave police a fake name as they questioned him about the theft of a laptop from Best Buy.

A 25-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with obstructing police after he gave cops a fake name while they questioned him about a stolen laptop.
Kenneth Genous was charged July 2 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with misdemeanor obstructing or resisting a police officer. If convicted, he could face up to nine months imprisonment, $10,000 in fines, or both.

Fox Point police pulled over a car in the 300 block of West Brown Deer Road on June 22 suspected of being involved in the theft of a laptop computer from Best Buy.
During the traffic stop, the driver gave police a name of "Matthew Porter." While questioning the driver, an officer observed a laptop computer in the backseat, the criminal complaint says.Â

It was later confirmed the laptop had been stolen from Best Buy, and the driver was actually Genous, according to the court documents.Â
Genous has not been charged with retail theft. He was convicted of retail theft in Waukesha three times in 2012, the court documents say.Â
Genous is due in court for a pre-trail conference on Aug. 16, online court records say.Â
