VIDEO: 2 Tow Trucks Pull Dump Truck from Ditch in Bayside

Lake Drive north of the intersection with Brown Deer Road was blocked off for more than five hours on Thursday as two large tow trucks worked to extract a dump truck from a roadside ditch.

Bayside Police Chief Bruce Resnick said the driver of the private company truck told him he had a flat tire and lost control driving south near The Shul just after 11 a.m. The truck, with a full load of gravel, fell sideways into the ditch. Resnick said neither occupant of the truck was injured.

The truck’s position and full payload presented challenges for Ray's Towing. Eventually, the dump truck was lifted to about a 30-degree angle by the first tow truck, then pulled forward by a second truck so all its wheels were on flat ground.
