Former Facebook Exec To Sell 'Packers Party' House For Bitcoin

GREEN BAY, WI -- A former Facebook executive has put his Green Bay home on the market. But this is no ordinary house: his next-door neighbor is Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. His asking price? $1 million in Bitcoin - a cryptocurrency.

"This is not just some house in a Texas suburb. (like others which got loads of press) This is The Packer Party House. Yes, as in the Green Bay Packers. The only NFL team owned by its fans...a decentralized, distributed ownership," the listing states.

Chris Murphy, a former Facebook executive listed his 1,012-square-ft. three-bedroom house at 910 Stadium Drive. It is one of only six homes to actually connect to the parking lot of Lambeau Field. "The Packer Party House allows guests to feel as though they are right in the center of the best tailgate partying in all of sports while having all of the comforts this 3 bedroom home has to offer," the listing states.

According to a Journal Sentinel article, Murphy is a lifelong Packer fan, and has hosted Packer parties and tailgate parties on the property. During gameday, as throngs of fans make their way to the stadium, houses in this neighborhood use their yards for fan parking (at up to $30 a pop or more), tailgating, and for-cash sundries. The Journal Sentinel report indicates that Murphy's $1 million price tag is about four times the home's value. He bought it in 2011 for $285,000.

According to a Milwaukee Biz Journal report, "Murphy has partnered with Propy, a global property store and decentralized title registry that will provide the technology for the payment." Propy provides access to the blockchain - a mechanism that facilitates transactions in the cryptocurrency world.
