Overeaters Anonymous to Host Newcomers Virtual Workshop

Local OA group to hold virtual workshop on compulsive eating and the tools of recovery; Invites new and prospective members to attend

On Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, Overeaters Anonymous Milwaukee Area Intergroup (OAMAI) will hold a Newcomers Virtual Workshop. Attendees will learn more about the disease of compulsive eating, the promise of abstinence, and working the program for effective recovery. The workshop is open to new, prospective, and current members.

As part of the web- and phone-based workshop titled “The Tools of Recovery,” attendees will be introduced to OA’s Nine Tools of Recovery: Plan of Eating, Sponsorship, Meetings, Telephone, Writing, Literature, Action Plan, Anonymity, and Service.

Attendees will have a chance to ask questions, engage in conversation, and identify local small group meetings. There are no fees to attend, and participant anonymity is assured.

OAMAI serves the entire eastern half of Wisconsin, and holds local meetings all throughout that area. Locally, there is a meeting in Green Bay on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. A complete list of active and current meetings can be found at oamilwaukee.org. New and prospective members are always welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. OA welcomes everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious doctrine. The primary purpose of OA is to help members abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.

The Milwaukee Area Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous (OA-MAI) is the local affiliation of the international organization.
