How To Watch Green Bay Packers Vs Oakland Raiders Aug. 24

WISCONSIN — Much has been made of the Green Bay Packers decision to cut ties with wide receiver Jordy Nelson in the offseason. Nelson, a 33-year-old player in his 11th season out of Kansas State, had been a staple of the team's offensive attack.

Nelson earned his Super Bowl ring with the Packers in 2011, and has accounted for more than 1,500 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns at his height. Last year saw him log 482 yards and six touchdowns for the green and gold.

It was considered a down year for the popular player, and he signed a two-year $15 million deal with Oakland in the offseason. Green Bay turned around and used at least some of that money to sign tight end Jimmy Graham to a three-year, $30 million contract.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden says that Nelson has been both consistent and reliable as well as being a good influence to the other players.

Nelson said in an ESPN report that the game will be fun for him, and not a big deal that he's going to be lining up against his former teammates.

“Emotionally, it won’t be a problem,” Nelson said this week. “… It’ll be fun to see them. It’s kind of enjoyable as a preseason game, so we can have some fun and get in and get out.”
