23-Year-Old Amery Man Dies In Auto Accident: Report

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI — Authorities in St. Croix County say a 23-year-old Amery man is dead following a traffic accident on Highway 46 over the weekend.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff's office, deputies were called out to an accident on the 2300 block of Highway 46 at just before 3 p.m. on Aug. 17. Authorities say a passerby noticed a vehicle drive down an embankment, and called 911.

Authorities say a 23-year-old Amery man, later identified as Corey Allen Peterson, had been ejected from his 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicle in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

Peterson's death is the tenth traffic fatality in St. Croix County in 2019, authorities said.
