City Of Hudson Hosting Arbor Day Celebration And Tree Planting April 29

Event will offer indoor and outdoor activities, culminating in a tree-planting ceremony at Lakefront Park to dedicate the new Tree Trek.

HUDSON - The City of Hudson Urban Forestry Board will host an Arbor Day celebration with tree planting in gravel bed and Lakefront Park from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Hudson West Garage on Division St., just west of 2nd St.

Schedule of indoor and outdoor activities:

  • Plant this year's nursery bed, 9:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Demonstrations, including planting and pruning, emerald ash borer treatment, Tropical Wings, and Prairie Enthusiasts, 11 a.m. to noon
  • Free lunch, noon
  • Tree-planting ceremony in Lakefront Park to dedicate the new Tree Trek, which will feature 20-25 trees with information about each species, 1:30 p.m.

Attendees can also meet Smokey Bear and win prizes. The City of Hudson is a designated Tree City USA. In order to receive the honor of the designation, municipalities must adhere to the Tree City USA program's four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance.
