Peg Shoemaker Appointed New Hudson High School Principal
Shoemaker is currently the principal at Willow River Elementary School. A process to select the next Willow River principal is currently being developed. The position will be posted and advertised this week.

Hudson School District Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten recommended the appointment of Peg Shoemaker to be the next Hudson High School Principal today during a Special Meeting of the Board of Education.
Shoemaker is currently the principal at Willow River Elementary School. She has worked for the Hudson School District for more than 20 years.
Shoemaker will take over as principal at the high school on July 1.

In an effort to make a smooth transition, Shoemaker will divide her work day between Willow River and the High School for the rest of the school year.
Retired elementary school principal Pat Hodges will be in charge at Willow River while Shoemaker is not on site. Prior to her retirement, Hodges was principal first at Willow River and then at River Crest.

With the resignation of current High School Principal Laura Love, the district needs a proven principal leader who can advance High School Learning for the Future initiatives and collaborate with staff to support all students achieving at higher levels.
Ms. Shoemaker will bring twenty-plus years of district experience to Hudson High School.
Throughout her career in the district, she has served as a teacher, elementary principal and district Associate Director of Learning Services. Shoemaker was integral in developing district-wide teacher collaboration time, expanding the K-12 new teacher mentorship program, and leading the first Hudson School District Cohort Master’s Degree in education as a UW-River Falls adjunct professor. Additionally, she served as administrative coach to Principal Love when she first came to the High School and worked with the High School administrative leadership team on instructional feedback to teachers. Her work in professional staff development is recognized around the state.
Putting student needs first and developing a strong staff learning community have always been Ms. Shoemaker’s priority. She will come to the High School with knowledge of the High School team, experience in High School Learning for the Future development, and strong community relations that are essential to the success of the High School and its students.
In response to her new role Ms. Shoemaker said, “I strongly believe in the vision of High School Learning for the Future. I am honored to serve Hudson High School students, teachers, staff, and parents and to lead a vision of this magnitude within a district and a community that I love.”
Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten spoke of Ms. Shoemaker’s numerous contributions to Hudson students, staff and families; and praised her educational leadership skills. When asked about this new role for Ms. Shoemaker, Superintendent Bowen-Eggebraaten said, “We are fortunate to have such a versatile leader of this caliber already in the district and one that is so deeply invested in the Hudson community. Ms. Shoemaker’s future-focused vision and numerous advantages over other potential principal candidates make her immediately ready to move ahead and collaborate with High School staff and administrators to further advance student preparation and success.”
