The Lutheran Home to Close; 62 Employees Affected

The Lutheran Home, a nursing home in River Falls has announced it is closing, resulting in the eventual layoff of 62 employees.

ST. CROIX COUNTY -- The Lutheran Home, a nursing home in River Falls has announced it is closing, resulting in the eventual layoff of 62 employees.

WelLHaven, the assisted living facility located on the same campus, will remain open.

The Lutheran Home nursing home at 640 N. Main St. in River Falls is closing, resulting in the permanent layoff of approximately 62 employees.

According to a notice sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, six or seven of those employees will either continue offering services at WelLHaven or will be offered positions elsewhere at The Lutheran Home Association.

The closing process has already begun, according to The Lutheran Home officials, and will be completely closed by Feb. 23, 2017. Most - if not all - of the employees will be terminated within the 14-day period between Feb. 9 and Feb. 23, 2017.
