BARRON COUNTY, WI — Snowy and slippery conditions led to an accident on Highway 53 on Wednesday that resulted in a 40-year-old Shell Lake woman's vehicle ending up on its roof.

On Wednesday, Dec. 13, just after 10 a.m., the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash
on state highway 53 just south of 26th Ave. Upon arrival, a State Trooper reported the driver, a 40-year-old Shell Lake woman, was trapped in the vehicle and suffered apparent injuries in the crash.

When the State Patrol investigated, they learned that the woman's vehicle was traveling south on Highway 53 when she lost control due to slippery and snowy conditions. Her vehicle entered the median, rolled and came to rest on its roof. After the woman was extricated by first responders, she was flown from the scene to a hospital in Eau Claire. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
