Semi-Truck Obliterated in I-94 Crash

Motorists need to be aware of possible slowdowns and lane restrictions this morning as a result of the crash.

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, WI — Slowdowns on I-94 were the norm on Friday morning after a semi-trailer crashed, lost its cargo, blew its fuel tank and ended hung up on the median.

On Thursday at about 11:30 p.m., the Wisconsin State Patrol dispatch center was advised of a semi crash on I-94 near MM 67 in the median. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the eastbound lanes of I-94 were covered in debris and diesel fuel, which resulted in the shutdown and re-route of I-94 eastbound traffic.

Their initial investigation indicates a lone semi was westbound on I-94 when it entered the median, crossed over and struck the barrier on the east bound side. This resulted in the loss of cargo from the semi-trailer and the rupture of the fuel tank. The semi-tractor came to rest on the concrete barrier of the bridge which spans over County Highway F. There were no injuries.

Motorists need to be aware of possible slowdowns and lane restrictions this morning as a result of the crash. Crews on scene are working to get the right-lane open in order to allow eastbound traffic through, but the left-lane will remain closed for several hours while the semi and debris are removed.
