Wisconsin Man Arrested for 8th OWI

Prior to the crash, multiple other motorists phoned 911 to report the minivan was being operated erratically and all over the road.

EAU CLAIRE,WI — A 58-year-old man has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 8th offense.

According to authorities, on May 19, just before 10 p.m., a minivan traveling westbound on Clairemont Ave. crashed into the guard rail just west of Otter Road in the city of Eau Claire.

A nearby WI State Patrol Trooper responded to the crash scene. Prior to the crash, multiple other motorists phoned 911 to report the minivan was being operated erratically and all over the road. The minivan driver was 58-year-old Leo Owen from Eau Claire, Wis., according to a Wisconsin State Patrol news release.

Authorities say that neither Owen nor his 60-year-old male passenger were injured. The Trooper arrested Mr. Owen for 8th offense Operating a Motor Vehicle While intoxicated. Owen was taken to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire for a legal blood draw. He will then be transported to and incarcerated at the Eau Claire Co. Jail.
