2018 Olympics: Becca and Matt Hamilton Curling Schedule, Results

McFARLAND, WI — You may have seen Olympic Curling before, but for Team USA duo Becca and Matt Hamilton of McFarland, Wis., took the the ice during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, they were doing so in the games' first Mixed Doubles competition.

According to TeamUSA.org, mixed doubles is a faster version of curling. Two stones are pre-positioned before each end, and the players combine to throw five stones instead of 16. The game consists of eight ends rather than 10.

Becca and Matt Hamilton have been curling for more than a decade, and started playing together when Mixed Doubles was announced as a new event about three years ago. “As far as practice goes you can’t beat that time together,” Matt said in an NBC media report. “And just knowing each other and having that kind of relationship early in our careers, it seemed like it made a lot of sense.”
